James 2 16-17

If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

As a young child of God, when we see things that touch our hearts and make us want to help others, it is very important that we follow through on that feeling in our heart. Most of the time God speaks to us through our heart wanting us to act on the compassion we feel for others who are much less fortunate than we are. If we do not act on this compassion, our belief in God and His holy Word does not line up with who God really is and what He says that we are to do and we become spiritually dead.
